Access to the University of Tokyo (Komaba campus) We basically recommend to come to the University of Tokyo via KEIO INOKASHIRA line (railway). From Shibuya station, it is very frequent (up to every 10 minutes). Every "LOCAL" train stops at Komaba-Todai mae station (2nd stop from Shibuya). No "EXP(RESS)" train, which is often indicated by red letters, stops the station. FROM NARITA AIRPORT (New Tokyo International Airport) Please look at another page. It is a most convenient way to get on Narita Express to SHIBUYA. HOW TO ARRIVE THE STATION (KOMABA-TODAI MAE) (FROM THE WORLD) ARRIVE IN TOKYO. GET TO SHIBUYA STATION. (on JR YAMANOTE (circle) line; both Tokyo and Shinagawa stations are on the line). Find a gate of KEIO INOKASHIRA LINE. GET ON LOCAL TRAIN. (with a ticket of 120 yen) 2nd station (takes a few minutes) is KOMABA-TODAI MAE. FROM KOMABA-TODAI MAE STATION get out from a gate on a side of Shibuya (east gate). You will find two stairs. Either is OK. (right hand side, namely, south bound, is recommended although almost all others would use left hand side) In case you choose the right hand side: You will be on a small road with railway on the left. Go along the road. You will soon find a small crossing point of the railway on the left (there is also a stairs on the right). Cross the railway and enter the university campus. Then the building you first find on the right is the department. Come in the building. In case you choose the left hand side: After the stair, you will find a big main building with a clock and a big gate of the university. You should not enter the campus. Please choose a small way (footpath) just in front of the main gate to the right direction (you can go even it looks closed). Go along the path beyond woods. Then you will find the department. Come in the building. Both ways take just a few minutes. If you walk over three minutes, it means you lost your way. Come back to the station and try again. NOTE: You can come via another way; "From SHIBUYA station to TOKYU STAY" and "From TOKYU STAY to KOMABA CAMPUS". (Tokyu Excel Hotel is also located in the SHIBUYA MARK CITY. There are also buses from Narita/Haneda Airport, or Kyoto, or other cities in Japan to the SHIBUYA MARK CITY 5F.) View Larger Map Point A is SHIBUYA STATION BUILDING (and Tokyu Excel Hotel). Among buildings in Shibuya, we believe you may easily find a building called 109 (one of Tokyu buildings). It is our starting point. Go strait with 109 on your left for a while. You will then find a Tokyu department store (also Tokyu Bunka Mura). The road curves toward left there. Go along the street. Go strait (same route from TOKYU STAY). TOKYU STAY We recommend to stay TOKYU STAY. One of the organizers (Y.O.) will stay there and meet at the lobby (on the ground floor) at monday morning 9:00 a.m. and come to the department together. From SHIBUTA station to TOKYU STAY ROUTE A: THROUGH SHIBUYA MARK CITY (shopping center/station building) View Larger Map Get out at DOGENZAKA-UE EXIT (4F) from WEST BUILDING of SHIBUYA MARK CITY. You are now at DOGENZAKA-UE. ROUTE B: THROUGH THE TOWN View Larger Map Find 109. Then go upward DOGENZAKA keeping 109 on your right. Then you will soon find DOGENZAKA-UE exit of SHIBUYA MARK CITY on your left. You are now at DOGENZAKA-UE. From DOGENZAKA-UE to TOKYU STAY Find a police box (called KOBAN). Take a small path keeping the police box on your right. (BE CAREFUL when you cross the street) Go and Go for a few minutes. Then you will find a food shop and turn left next to it. Then you will find Tokyu Stay on your right. From TOKYU STAY to the department of Math. View Larger Map Now you are in front of Tokyu Stay. Turn left and go strait. You will soon find a big avenue and turn right there. (It is BETTER NOT TO CROSS THE AVENUE; walk the right hand side) Walk and Walk. Walk strait. Then you will find a cross "SHOTO 2". This is the most important point. Please be careful NOT TO MISS IT. At the corner, you can find DENSO board or an object. Turn left at Shoto 2 and then go strait. Finally you will find our building. Enter the university campus. You may enter the buiding if the door is opened. Otherwise, you will go to the main entrance of the building. From OLYMPIC INN SHIBUYA TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MATH.
